About US

Troop 840 is a quality troop using the traditional Boy Scout program. Our Scouts come from primarily the Pinecrest and surrounding areas. We are a boy led troop which means that with parental guidance our boys decide what they want to do, plan it and lead it.

We have troop meetings on Thursday evenings, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Saint Louis Catholic Church at 7270 SW 120th Street. The Church is our sponsoring body, but a Scout does not need to be of the Catholic faith to be a troop member nor do they need to attend church. In fact, several of our members are of other faiths and members of other churches. We have a very diverse mix of boys. Parents are encouraged to stay for meetings and are expected to help in some capacity when they are in attendance. Many parents find themselves having as much fun as the Scouts!

If you join our troop we will work with you to implement the Boy Scouts of America program which offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth. Specifically, the BSA endeavors to help boys to develop into citizens that have a high degree of self-reliance with qualities such as initiative, courage, and resourcefulness.

You are eligible to participate in our program if you have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade, or are 11 through 17 years old, and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.

On April 20th Troop 840 Troop 840 pulled off another great and successful Mulch Drive.

Many thanks to all of the Scouts, Parents & Leaders that helped out and made this possible. A BIG thanks goes to  Development Chairmen, Manny Modrono (manny@easygrass.net) & William Wagner.(wwagner5@bellsouth.net) for thier hard and excellent work in coordinating this effort. We raised $1,900 to help fund Troop activities such as campouts, scholarships and registrations. Additionally, the Scouts made money towards summer camp, Eagle projects and other activities.
